C2: um well, before I start, I’d like to know what’s motivating you to take or go back to English, so are you just starting out, have you done it before and what are your plans?

A15: yes um actually I did English like everyone else at school um simply but I’d like to um well just doing it at school as a subject um I’m not particularly into it so um as a result I’ve got I’ve got well I’ve got a lot of gaps and so um I’d really like to improve because I’d like to be bilingual in fact and perfectly bilingual and so um that’s kind of my motivation for doing it

C2: so perfectly bilingual

A15: yes

C2: to do what do you have a specific project in mind?

A15: erm + I don’t have a specific project concerning English but I’d like to be erm mobile and I < don’t want to be

C2: yes >

A15: and in relation to the countries I’d like to go to, I wouldn’t want to be uh well restricted because of the language

C2: yes, so it could be English either to go to a country which isn’t an English-speaking country but where English would be your language of communication

A15: no, no, an English-speaking country

C2: all the same > you’re aiming for an English-speaking country, the United States < Australia anyway

A15: yes >

C2: OK, so there’s a mobility project.

A15: yeah

C2: er student or professional

A15: yes, both

C2: um you’re studying at the moment < you’re already a professional yes yes

A15: yes I am no no I’m still a student yes > I’m studying microfinance and normally um finance um you have to be able to speak English which isn’t my case < [laughs] so um
